The International Driving Permit is a legal requirement that allows drivers to lawfully operate their vehicles outside of the UAE without the need for further screening or applications.

The UAE driver’s license is now recognized in over 50 different nations, allowing you to have a hassle-free vacation.

In fact, as of 2024, 100 nations have been listed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs & International Cooperation (MoFAIC) as accepting and recognizing Emirates-issued driver's licenses. This list is a useful tool for UAE citizens who intend to drive when abroad and who wish to confirm the validity and applicability of their driver's license.

Despite this revelation, it remains essential to familiarize yourself with the specific driving laws and regulations of the country you intend to visit before you travel in order to prevent any legal complications. Moreover, the ministry still encourages travelers who intend to drive overseas to get an international driving license despite the list's expansion because some countries have still not authorized the UAE driving license.
